10 Hebrew Words for Praise and Worship . . . John 4:23-24

I WANT US TO REMEMBER THE WORD…WELL.

W = WORSHIP

1.  SHABACH – Strongs H7623: Shout praise. Expresses confidence in God’s ability.
   PSALMS 145:4 One generation shall praise Your works to another, And shall declare Your mighty acts.
2. BARACH – Strongs H1288: Kneel, bless the Lord, to chase after. Expresses humility.
   PSALMS 95:6 Oh come, let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.
3. YADAH – Strongs H3034: The extended hand. Expresses gratitude, thankfulness, and surrender.
   PSALMS 111:1 Praise [halal] the Lord! I will praise the Lord with my whole heart, In the assembly of the upright and in the congregation.
4. TOWDAH – H8426: The raised hand. Expresses adoration.
   PSALMS 50:23 Whoever offers praise glorifies Me; And to him who orders his conduct arightI will show the salvation of God.”
5. TAQA – H8628: Clap, applaud, to blow, strike, sound, thrust, give a blow, blast - Expresses joy and victory.
   PSALMS 47:1 Oh, clap your hands, all you peoples! Shout to God with the voice of triumph!
6. HALLAL – H1984: Celebrate extravagantly. Root of the word “hallelujah” which means “praise (hallal) to jah(God)”. Expresses joy, jubilation, and celebration. PSALMS 148:1-4 Praise the Lord! 9. MAHOL - H3769: Dance. Expresses joy and celebration.
   PSALM 149:3 Let them praise His name with the dance; Let them sing praises to Him with the timbrel and harp.
