Intro to Motivational Gifts . . . Romans 12:3-8

Introduction

After SALVATION, it is important to understand the impact of the Holy Spirit's full operation of gifts in and through the life and witness of the church.

It is coming into the fullness of the fights and the fruit of the spirit.  It also encompasses the broader scope of exercising God's gifts of spiritual enablement.

THE GIFTS OF THE GODHEAD . . .

THE FATHER

THE SON

THE HOLY SPIRIT

To better understand the gifts from God for the church we need to understand the role of each member of the Godhead -

We meet the Godhead in the creation story in Genesis 1:1-2 and in John 1:1-3.

THE GIFTS OF THE FATHER . . .

Life comes from the Father - from Him we receive the life gifts, grace gifts, or MOTIVATIONAL GIFTS.  Romans 12:3-8

THE GIFTS OF THE SON . . .

Eternal life comes from the Son - from HIM we receive the office or MINISTRY GIFTS.  Ephesians 4:7-16.

THE GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT . . .

The Father and the Son have brought forth the Spirit - from HIM we receive the GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT.  1 Corinthians 12:7-11

MOTIVATIONAL GIFTS . . .

These gifts are inherent tendencies that characterize each different person.

DEFINE INHERENT . . .

Existing in something as a permanent, essential, or characteristic of your attributes.

MOTIVATIONAL GIFTS . . .

These gifts are placed by reason of the Creator's unique workmanship in their initial gifting.  Ephesians 2:10

TENDENCIES OF MOTIVATIONAL GIFTS

Observation indicates that few people are fully described by one gift.

More commonly a mix is found with different traits of each gift present to some degree.

Usually . . . one gift will be dominant in an individual.

REMEMBER:  These gifts designate our place in God's created order - They are FOUNDATIONAL!
